Hammer's latest creation, Nu Blue Hammer is sure to turn heads. Featuring a newly formulated NOT URETHANE coverstock, this unique blend finished at 500/1000 Siaair Micro Pad will provide "urethane-like" reaction on medium to dry lane conditions.
Inside, the LED symmetric core, as made famous by the Purple Hammers, will provide a clean, consistent roll shot after shot.

Hammer is excited to introduce a revolutionary ball – actually a game-changer for bowlers seeking alternatives to traditional urethane ball reaction. With recent changes to PBA rules regarding traditional urethane, Hammer took on the challenge of producing a ball that would mimic the performance attributes of the famous Purple Pearl Urethane Hammer without using urethane… and we nailed it. The NU Blue Hammer is “not urethane” but delivers a urethane ball motion. It is versatile, smooth, consistent, and predictable, making it ideal for challenging lane conditions. Bowlers will experience all the advantages of a reactive ball that can be used in any competition while benefiting from the classic Purple Pearl Urethane ball motion that has dominated the lanes for years.
Strengths
The NU Blue Hammer gave us urethane-like control without the typical drawbacks of urethane shells. The ball didn't get overly slimy while being used, and it didn't always require a scrubdown with a shammy to maintain its back end reaction.
Weaknesses
The lower flare potential and smoother shape compared to resin balls caused the NU Blue Hammer to struggle on our heavy oil pattern. Even with the very dull box finish, it didn't have enough hook to handle this slicker condition.
Overall Summary
The NU Blue Hammer gives bowlers a urethane-type reaction without the typical negatives created by urethane covers. We really liked how well this ball performed when there was enough friction to get it hooking. We found that wiping the shell down after each shot with a shammy kept it stronger at the breakpoint, and not wiping it between shots got it closer to the urethane motion.
