CLONE - "a thing that duplicates, imitates, or closely resembles another in appearance, function, performance or style." And well, since the last version of this core part was unwillingly abducted, we felt it was our responsibility to the entire bowling galaxy to "clone" it and mix in a few upgrades & performance enhancing tweaks that bowlers of all skill levels on planet earth will benefit from. And just as before, the reasons that led to the creation of the original E.T. Core that featured out of this world core technology better known as “equalizer cavities” to emulate the use of a balance hole, the CLONED E.T. Core also does that, but MORE.
Strengths
For a ball with a solid coverstock, the Clone had no trouble clearing the front of the lane. Even late in our test sessions, this ball showed no signs of picking up too early.
Weaknesses
All three bowlers would choose other balls in the current Roto Grip line to start with across all our patterns. Once balls started going down the lane and the patterns transitioned with more hook in the track area, the Clone was really able to show its stuff. Breaking the surface was a big help in combating the fresh with this ball.
Overall Summary
The Clone uses a new polished solid reactive coverstock and a modified version of the asymmetrical Equalizer Technology core design. Despite being a solid and despite the small changes to the core, all three bowlers found this ball to roll very similar to the UFO Alert at the box finish.
